BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – 3/7/2018 – The Waites Apartments, Birmingham’s newest residential and mixed-use development, located at the corner of Seventh Avenue South and 21 st Street South, is pleased to announce its newest tenant, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches. This is the national sandwich chain’s first location in downtown Birmingham and second Birmingham location overall. Named by Forbes as one of the “30 Best Franchises to Buy,” the Dallas-based and award-winning sandwich concept has more than 500 locations worldwide and is known for its customizable sandwiches, creative ordering system and personalized sandwich bag. With the addition of Which Wich, seven of the eight retail spaces at The Waites have been leased.

We craft each sandwich with care, with a smile and a thank you, to send you on your way re-energized and satisfied,” Birmingham’s newest Which Wich location has a desire to serve its customers through a positive attitude and design-your- own sandwiches with varied bread, meat and topping options.

Occupying approximately 1,500 square feet, Which Wich will feature outdoor seating directly in front of the store in addition to its indoor seating. The store will offer catering delivery for all of downtown Birmingham, as well as an express pick-up option for customers via online ordering or by phone. A delivery option is available for individual orders serving those that live or work within a mile radius of The Waites.
Named after the former Waites Bakery, The Waites features more than 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with other onsite tenants including Club Pilates, Taco Mama, Farm Burger, Smoothie King and Roll Up, a sushi concept. Retail tenants will start to open mid-summer 2017. Parking for retail tenants will be in the rear of the property.

The Waites is now leasing its luxury apartments situated just steps away from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and central business district of downtown Birmingham. To pay homage to the history of the site, development company Retail Specialists and Williams Blackstock Architects incorporated pieces of limestone from the former building to be included in the façade. Cooper Construction began demolition of the former site April 2016, with construction of the new building starting June 2016.
